Theme parks like Alton Towers and Legoland are a fun day out for most. So what happens when darkness falls? Usually, maintenance and security patrols.
But for some visitors, these theme parks present an irresistible challenge at night – to sneak in and climb.
Urban explorers visit everything from abandoned buildings, to theme parks and skyscrapers, free climbing their way to the top to snap stomach churning pictures and thrilling videos.
If you look to social media, there are countless accounts dedicated to the hobby.
But last summer, Merlin, which owns dozens of theme parks in the UK (and around the world) including Legoland, Sea Life and the London Eye, secured an injunction against six urban explorers, three of which were named, banning them from stepping foot inside one of their attractions again.
