In the worst situations, we are encouraged to remain upbeat. But is that always the best thing for us?

Ever had a worry, concern or upset dragging you down, and when you’ve turned to a friend or loved one for support, they’ve made you feel even worse?

You might have been subjected to toxic positivity - when the insistence to ‘look on the bright side of things’ is actually more harmful than helpful.
