During the Pandemic, Dina started cooking with her grandma on instagram. They can’t wait to share their delicious dishes this christmas.
I spoke to Dina Macki, who works for the Anglo-Omani Society, bringing Omani culture, food and all this wonderful country has to offer to the U.K.
She shared her rich heritage, the beautiful relationships with her family, especially her grandmother Bibi, and the amazing food the family cooks together.
I loved hearing how almost by accident, Bibi became a star on Dina’s Instagram page, and the pair cooked together daily over the course of the pandemic, thrilling and endearing Dina’s 20k+ followers.
My favourite thing about our chat was learning about the absolutely mouthwatering fusion of Middle Eastern and East African food Dina grew up eating and later craving and cooking herself. It reminded me so much of the close-knit relationship and love I share with my own grandma and Persian heritage.
