Lighter than a tub of Quality Street

Premature baby born at 23 weeks survives without health issues

Parents facing the terrifying prospect of their baby arriving prematurely will likely ask themselves if a baby can survive being born before 24 weeks. So when Leah went into labour at 22 weeks pregnant, she faced the terror herself.

The doctors didn’t know what had caused the premature labour but there was no stopping it.

Christmas baby Bonnie was born prematurely at 23 weeks and 4 days, weighing 1.5lbs and so little, she weighed less than a tub of Quality Street.

Leah and her husband watched in awe as tiny Bonnie overcame every health problem, and now, she is thriving at two years old.

She wanted to share Bonnie’s story so that other mum’s who find themselves in this scary situation can read her story and feel hope that babies born this early can not only survive, but thrive.
